Nanci SORIN Collyer
Nanci Sorin Collyer, an actress, singer, and for many years, a voice teacher based in New York City, relocated to C.A., Palm Springs area, where she appeared in Sondheim's "Putting It Together" in Palm Desert. She created and performed in her own nightclub act, "It's Still Spring", for sold out shows at Eighty-Eight's Cabaret Club in NYC, and Francesca in Philadelphia, with Paul Trueblood as music director and Larry Ellis as director. New York 'Back Stage' critic, Roy Sander, wrote, "She combines two qualities . . . stylish elegance and spirit of fun", vital ingredients for her new Noel Coward show, "From Opposite Sides Of The Pond", with partner, Courtney Kenny from London. Nanci's NEW cabaret show, "That Divine Urge", Lisa Asher/director and Jeff Waxman/musical director, was at Judy's Chelsea Cabaret Club, NYC, and The Gardenia Supperclub, Hollywood, CA, with musical director, Shelly Markham. "ELEGANCE IN BLUE" a pops concert of American song, with arrangements by Anne Phillips, combined the unique blend of Nanci Collyer's warm, moving voice with the sultry jazz tenor saxophone of Bob Kindred, performing with the North Carolina Symphony at New Bern's Tryon Palace, NC., the Fairlawn Symphony, NJ., and the Oradell Symphony NJ. Other concerts include the roles of Sonia and Natalie in "The Merry Widow", and Rosalinde in "Die Fledermaus", with the Fairlawn Symphony, NJ/ Popular duo, Nanci Collyer and renowned Broadway baritone Ronald Rogers, enchanted audiences several seasons with the Fairlawn Symphony, NJ. and the Kasschau Shell concerts, Ridgewood NJ. Nanci combined the talents with Hall of Fame dancer Hal LeRoy in the Catskills, NY, and has appeared with him in the Ziegfeld Balls, Hotel Pierre, NYC, along with Broadway stars Bernadette Peters and Tommy Tune, and Honi Coles. Nanci was the official singer for 3 years for the Cosmos Soccer team, Giants Stadium, singing anthems for USA, Canada, W. Germany, Italy, and United Kingdom. She also sang for the Yankees at Shea Stadium. 'VOICE OF THE WINNER' . . . Nanci Sorin Collyer's innovative and successful method of voice training for singers/actors, as well as public speakers was the subject of a feature article in the Saturday Evening Post. (Oct 1983) Her students are professionals in the jazz, pop, Broadway and R&B genre. This technique, used by many stars and celebrities was originally developed by Nanci's husband, the late David Sorin Collyer. |
