Helen Hobbs Jordan who grew up in Topeka, Kansas, received her Bachelor of Music from Washburn University and her Master and Doctoral degrees from Columbia University Teachers College.

Helen did an extensive amount of graduate work at the Julliard School of Music and many European schools.

After some years as a concert violinist, she taught at Julliard School Of Music, Columbia University and American Theater Wing.

She opened her school of professional musicianship, Helen Jordan Music Institute, in 1950, instantly attracting a number of famous performers.

Helen Jordan was an author of a series of music textbooks and workbooks, and specialized in teaching musicianship to professionals.
